Dates: August 11th to the 17th, 2018.

Time: Runs from 6:00pm to 9:00pm each night.

Location: Odori Park, Sapporo

Details: Bon Odori is a dance festival that welcomes both locals and international tourists for nights of immense fun!

The tradition of Bon Odori happens during Obon, an event and period where people commemorate and pay regards to their ancestor’s. The Bon Odori itself is a festival where people dance to folk music, and enjoy celebrating both the past and present.

Nowadays it is directed towards entertainment, and is a fun way to enjoy the traditional culture of Japan and the specific region you are in, as the music and dance styles will vary from place to place.

The dance is quite easy once you have viewed it for a short while, so feel free to join in once you know the steps!

Schedule: 6:00pm-7:00pm each Night: Children’s Bon Odori

7:00pm-9:00pm each night: Adult’s Bon Odori

August 17th: there will be a costume concert held between 7:00pm-8:00pm!
