Hakodate Port Festival 2018

Date: August 1st to 5th, 2018

Location: the city of Hakodate, which is four hours from Sapporo.

Details: This festival is the largest held in Hakodate and has a diverse selection of entertainment and activities offered. Spanning five days, you can spend a day taking in the sites, or take on the full extent of the festival for most of the week! If you want to get a feel for a classic Japanese festival, this is a great opportunity to see many traditional festival happenings, like parades, fireworks, and live music. Don’t forget too that this festival is famous for it’s ‘Squid Dance’, which is extremely fun to see and participate in!

Schedule: August 1st: 63rd Dogenic Fireworks Festival at 7:45pm-9:00pm

August 2nd and 3rd (same both days): ‘Washoyo Hakodate’: Harbour dance, children’s dance and summer festival, Hakodate dance.

August 4th: Preparation day for Washoyo

August 5th: Vendor stalls, Daikomon Hoko Ten Street Live, Harbour Dance, Washoyo Hakodate contest award ceremony.

Tickets: The Hakodate Port Festival itself is a free event and does not require tickets to enter.
