Details: Every August, the month is started off with the Hachigatsu-sai Festival. Known for it’s giant patchwork quilt that is laid throughout the grounds, the event is both eye catching and extremely entertaining!
Some of the events that happen during this festival are: orchestra performances, a huge fair that has booths and stalls selling local food and drink, games, and Bon dancing with a live band!
The main spectacle though is the giant patchwork quilt, Oburoshiki, in which the community creates out of donated fabric, quilts and even kimono! The quilt will be splayed on the ground and will span the entire festival venue.
Schedule: August 3rd: Fair booths run from 2:30pm to 9:30pm
Bon dance runs from 6:30pm to 9:30pm
August 4th: Fair booths run from 12:00pm to 8:45pm
Sapporo Citizen’s Orchestra Live Performance runs from 4:00pm-5:00pm
Bon Dance: Children’s runs from 3:00pm to 3:30pm. Adult’s runs from 6:00pm to 8:45pm
