Date Samurai Musha Festival

Date: August 4th and 5th, 2018

Time: August 4th: 11:00am to 7:00pm.    August 5th: 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Location: The city of Date, which is two hours outside of Sapporo.

Details: Date is a city located close to the coast of Hokkaido and was initially pioneered by relocated samurai from the Sendai clan. Each year they hold a traditional warrior procession to pay regards to the city’s historical roots.

Here you can see and experience practices passed down from samurai, like Yabusame, which is archery in which you shoot at targets from horseback!

Schedule: August 4th: 11:00am-4:00pm there will be live stage performances and a dining venue

6:00pm-7:00pm there will be a Musha Dashi Samurai Parade which will be accompanied by dancers and live drumming.

August 5th: 10:00am-3:00pm there will be live stage performances and a dining venue

11:30am-12:30pm there will be a Samurai Musha parade

12:15pm there is a Kyudo (archery) performance

1:15pm there is the Yabusame performance
