Shirohige Waterfall

Tomita Farm Lavender – Shiki Sai No Oka Flower Garden – Biei Blue Pond
Recommended: From Spring to late Summer.
Furano’s famous lavender is at its peak season in July, but there are a variety of flowers blooming from Spring, through to late Summer. Furano is also famous for its sweets, ice cream and fruit, so we can add plenty of pit-stops to your day. Biei’s Blue Pond is stunning and a great picture spot throughout the year. It’s also really tricky to get to by public transport, so Social Bus is the easiest way to see everything you’d like to in a day!

Toya Day Tour

Mount Usu View Spot

Lake Toya Shrine

Nakayama Crater – Lake Toya – Mount Usu – Bear Park

Recommended: All year round!
Every season is beautiful in Toya, and every season boasts its own local delicacies to try for yourself. The lake is stunning, and there are evening fireworks throughout the Summer and Autumn months. Locally, you can also experience a (safe) but active volcano at Mount Usu, enjoy the local Bear Park, or enjoy a bit of history at Nakayama Crater. There are local handmade bakeries and ice cream shops if you would like to try these for yourself. Or if you’d rather relax whilst overlooking the lake, we can recommend our favourite hot-spring spots too.

Otaru Day Tour

Otaru Canal in Winter

Otaru Canal in Summer

Hokkaido's Famous Seafood!

Otaru Canal – Kitaichi Glass Factory – Nikka Whiskey

Otaru in picturesque in every season. From the candlelit walkways of winter, through to the canal boats, European style buildings, and rickshaws that can be enjoyed all year round, this is a beautiful spot to spend a day. If you love nature, we can add a stop at Tengu Mountain and the squirrel park into your day. If you prefer the ocean, we recommend the local aquarium. Otaru is famous for both its seafood and its desserts, so it’s definitely worth planning a leisurely lunch break along the way.

Ainu Village – Noboribetsu Onsen – Jigokudani

Recommended: April – November.
Noboribetsu is beautiful all year round, but it’s locally know as ‘hell-valley’ due to the unique volcanic landscape that is visible between April and November. It’s a popular hot-spring spot because of the natural sulfur, and the town itself is filled with tradition and history. You can visit the local Ainu Village as part of the day, and catch a glimpse of many famous ogre-statues in the town centre.

Asahiyama Day Tour

Hokkaido sunflowers

Asahiyama Sunflowers

Asahiyama Snow Museum

Hokkaido Ramen Tasting!

Local Homemade Food!

Asahiyama Zoo – Otakoyama Sake

Recommended: All year round!
Asahiyama Zoo is the largest zoo in the whole of Japan, and it’s on many people’s ‘wish-list’ when they come to Hokkaido. We particularly love the daily penguin parade! Asahiyama city also has many other local spots that we recommend, including Otakoyama Sake! In summer, add in a stop at Japan’s largest sunflower fields to take in the view! In winter, we can visit the famous Snow Museum as well!

These are just some ideas to get you thinking! Other day trips that we can recommend include, Sapporo Beer Museum, Rusutsu Resort, Moerenuma Park, Hokkaido Historical Village, Lake Shikotsu, Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill, Hokkaido Shrine…
